Intimacy – that’s what vocals and guitar are about for me, aside from every cliché attached to that pairing. Being limited to the simplest media, in all their complexity. Playing your own body, with the instrument – singing your own lived experience, in melodies that will hopefully carry farther, be heard differently, and listened to attentively. To discover this path I recorded three albums, live and immediate, so that from that point forward the sound space could expand with acoustic instrumentation. The records Folk, Am Fenster (At the window) and Volkmar Mühleis, Liedermacher (Songmaker) open up this space that Traumtänzer (Dreamdancer) enriched with cello and accordion in 2017.
